Cynosure service guide: AMPS-era systems, Elite iQ and PicoSure

Cynosure platforms span two decades, from older AMPS-based systems to the Elite iQ and PicoSure. Most can be kept in service for years with regular maintenance and targeted repairs instead of replacement.

Older AMPS-based systems

Older Cynosure systems are often still worth servicing. Typical issues are aging flashlamps, power-supply charging faults, worn delivery fibers and degraded coolant. Parts availability is the main question, so a diagnostic visit comes first.

Elite iQ and Elite+

  • Energy drop on the Alexandrite or Nd:YAG module
  • Calibration failures at startup
  • Cooling and flow alarms
  • Handpiece and distance-gauge faults

PicoSure

PicoSure calls usually involve output loss, articulated-arm alignment and cooling. Output measurement and alignment checks find the cause before expensive parts are ordered.

Maintenance interval

Every six months for busy practices, yearly for lighter use, with coolant service at least once a year.
